Easigas Success Stories
Mothupi Oanyane
Regional Sales Manager
“I joined Easigas in 2009 through the Shell Graduate programme. The recruitment process took place at many different tertiary institutions across the country and successful candidates were placed in different Shell business units. The programme allowed candidates to sample two or three roles in the company, each offering a broad range of challenging responsibilities and provided excellent mentoring and coaching that monitored progression. The duration of the programme was 3 years and when Easigas was sold by Shell to Rubis Energies in 2010, the graduate programme ended for Easigas and I was immediately assigned to the Alberton Depot platform supervisor role.
I began my role as a platform supervisor in October 2010 and it was an exceptional exposure because I got an opportunity learn the core of Easigas packed business. I am grateful to the mentorship and coaching that I still had from various managers within the organisation. I continued to learn many things from Alberton depot staff and head-office staff because I had minimal overall work experience. The role also exposed me to many external service providers on the technical side that were servicing and maintaining depot equipment and machinery. I had an opportunity to interact with some of the customers because the depot has a direct working relationship with some of the major distributors operating from the facilities.
I then moved to another role of Territory Sales manager (TSM) in 2013 and joined a very experienced sales team. The support and guidance were abundant throughout and this was a period when the organisation was transitioning and taking a new direction. I grew gradually in the TSM role until 2017 when I was promoted to my current role as a Regional Sales Manager.”
